The Story
Kevin & Charlsye met Jr. year of High School. They both grew up in Katy, TX and at the time we had a lot of mutual friends but didn’t know each other well. One day Charlsye told her friends how she thought he was so cute and needed to figure out how to talk to him. After a lot of help from our friends they ended up getting each other’s numbers and texting. Their first date was Christmas Eve 2009 and they saw Alvin and the Chipmunks at the movies. They then went to college at LSU and finally graduated and got engaged on 12/23/17.
The Proposal
Every Christmas Charlsye and Kevin eat dinner somewhere nice and drive around and look at Christmas lights. This time they went to Brennen’s Steak House and then went to River Oaks to look at the lights. The traffic was horrible which worked out in Kevin’s favor because he asked if Charlsye wanted to get out and walk instead of driving. They then got out and started walking and right when they went in front of this beautiful gate he got on one knee and proposed! Charlsye then saw her mom and sister run out taking pictures. After that he surprised her by going to Heights Bier Garden where all of their friends and family were to help them celebrate. Easy to be their second best night ever after their wedding night 😉
The Wedding Day
Through all the rainy days that Houston had at the time, Charlsye and Kevin’s day was full of sunlight. As I parked my car and walked into the venue, I was thinking to myself what a beautiful place Venue 311 was. The sunlight lit it in so the best part of the venue was highlighted. As I walked in, my attention was immediately drawn to the bride’s room. I could hear laughters from afar. It was easy to see why, the room was filled with 15 ladies! Charlsye was getting her hair and make up done and surrounded by all of her dear friends who also would be her bridesmaid. Her Mom, Renee, greeted me with the most friendly smile. Everyone in that room was full of energy and looked so beautiful waiting for something awesome to happen.
After Charlsye finished putting on her dress. We arranged for her Dad to walk in and have the first look with her. Right when her Dad walked in, her sister Kelsey who was also her MOH, started to teared up. Charlsye’s Mom and Mother in law was in the room as well witnessing that sweet moment. Charlsye’s Dad held the tears that was about to roll out of his eyes. His daughter. His little girl. The one he would walk down the aisle in a few moment, looked absolutely stunning. Charlsye went with a fluffy traditional a-line dress which couldn’t look better on her.
Kevin arrived already dressed. I let him stand by Charlsye’s room door so they can see each other for the first time. I teased Kevin a little and asked him to close his eyes when Charlsye came closer and hold his hand. With his eyes still closed, he turned to Charlsye. And right when I said he could open his eyes, he were speechless seeing Charlsye. Kevin was not the type of guy that allowed his emotion to explode but I could tell he was thinking “Wow!!! Is this the girl I am going to married?”
After the beautiful ceremony, we took a few more pictures. What spoke to me about their relationship the most was how Kevin, still in his suit and tie, did not mind to pick Charlsye up to prevent her from walking on the mud from the rain the day before. She was still the girl that he wanted to protect since Jr year of high school.
The night went fast. Or maybe just me. Because we had SO MUCH FUN. The dance floor was filled with people (Thanks, Jimmy! – The fantastic DJ). Charlsye and Kevin was dancing the night away.

Houston, TX Wedding Photograper
I started my photography business purely with my passion for photography. A friend of mine asked me to do his wedding when I was in college and I fell in love. I love the emotions, the laughter, the tears, the chemistry between people in weddings.
