Amanda & David Romantic Engagement Session in Fredericksburg, TX

  1. […] How they met:  David and Amanda are a beautiful couple and the way that they meet sounded like God’s plan. According to David, when he met Amanda, there were a several signs: He met her on the 5th anniversary of his Dad’s passing away, their first dinner was on the night that David’s nephew, Bradley, was born… At the time, David was diagnosed with cancer and at the stage when he couldn’t leave the cleanliness of his home for a public place. He only had his dog accompanied him for nearly a month. His praying for someone to come to his life as a company came true when Amanda agreed to came over for dinner. He made her favorite, Chicken Piccata. And despite of David forgetting about capers – her favorite part of the meal, she was still happy to be there with him. They started dating them. David told me about Amanda’s giving up her limited sleeping time after 12+ hour work day to hang out with him, about how she was on hands and knees with his Mom to fight fire ants during Harvey, about how she does not care about the sleepless nights on the couch at MD Anderson holding his hand through medical gloves when David underwent his treatments, or how she filed his nails when David was too beaten down to do it himself. How he asked: If he could, David would have asked Amanda right there at that hospital couch to marry him. But he waited. And wanting to propose to Amanda was the desire that drove him to get healthier. After asking her Dad, Dan, and with the help of her sister, Carrie, David plotted his proposal since the hospital. The first day he went back to work after 11 months of fighting cancer, Amanda came home early. David set up a walkway of pictures and candles in the garage, through the laundry room, and down the hallway into the family room. As soon as Amanda was home, he was down on one knee in a suit. He was waiting for that moment for a very long time. The Wedding day: The weeks leading to Amanda and David’s wedding, I kept messaging back and forth with Amanda to plan the details. I never expected that she would told me that her Dad was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer. I met Dan when I came up to Fredericksburg to take their engagement photos, Dan was very healthy and strong. The news was devastating. She told me that Dan would be in wheel chair and very weak. Their wedding day was full of happiness. But mostly tears. Witnessing them hugging and crying together made me realize how fragile life could be. I couldn’t hold my emotions when Amanda danced with her Dad. Dan couldn’t get up from his wheel chair but he would never give up dancing with his little girl. Dan passed away 3 weeks after the wedding. And the following images are probably the last memories they had together that got captured.
